Camp Programs

Oxford Arts Alliance's Clay Camp takes place at the Octoraro Art Association on 5965 Forge Rd, Oxford, PA from 9 am to 12 pm. The daily schedule includes a morning session of camp and a snack break. This camp is a two week program. Drop off is from 9:00-9:15 am each day.

By the end of the two weeks, students leave with BOXES full of clay projects! Each student has the potential to make up to TWENTY pieces or more and glazes them all for their own personal touch!

Due to the popularity of this camp, it fills up QUICK! So make sure you register early! We recommend signing up before March 31st to ensure a spot in this camp!

The Clay Camp Showcase will be held on Sat, Sept 7th with time TBD at the Oxford Arts Alliance. All pottery must be picked up that day! Students usually invite their entire family - including grandparents and aunts/uncles!

See our FAQ's and our camp information sheet for helpful information.

Clay Camp

JULY 22 - AUG 2 | AGES 6+

Students will be introduced to Clay in its natural form as a locally available material that has been geologically formant by millennia of weathering, and the students will actually process a number of regional clays.

A variety of traditional farming techniques such as coil, slab in a pinch will be explored by both groups, and the older students will have the opportunity to try throwing on the electric potters wheel.

Numerous decorative methods will be explored throughout the week: carving in stamping objects to form repeat patterns, using clay slips to illustrate geometric designs, as well as adding natural embellishments after the work has been fired.

Firing and other finishing techniques will be explored, time and weather permitting, including pit firing/horsehair firing combinations and raku-like effects as well as acrylic painted surfaces for the non-functional bisque ware.

We will have a group exhibition to showcase our campers work at the Oxford Arts Alliance {38 S Third St Oxford PA} on Saturday, September 7th. This gives our instructor time to fire your clay projects and transport them here for the show! Saturday, September 7th will be the day everyone MUST take all of their clay projects home after the show.
