Oxford Arts Alliance's Clay Camp takes place at the Octoraro Art Association on 5965 Forge Rd, Oxford, PA. There will be three clay camps: Advanced, Beginner I, and Bigger II. The daily schedule for Advanced includes a morning session of camp and a snack break. The daily schedule for Beginner includes an afternoon session of camp and a snack break. Drop off for Advanced is from 9:00-9:15 am each day and pick up from 11:50-12:00 pm each day. Drop off for Beginner is 1:00-1:15 pm each day and pick up from 3:50-4:00 pm each day.
By the end of each camp, students leave with BOXES full of clay projects! Each student has the potential to make up to TWENTY pieces or more and glazes them all for their own personal touch!
Due to the popularity of this camp, it fills up QUICK! So make sure you register early! We recommend signing up before March 31st to ensure a spot in this camp!
For 2020 we will be hosting an online gallery through Artsonia for the families of our art campers to enjoy their artwork for a lifetime by hanging onto them digitally! Visit our Artsonia page! Clay camp projects will be available for pick up from Saturday, September 5th through Saturday, September 12th. They must be picked up by Saturday, September 12th as we will not be storing any projects at the arts alliance.
Advanced Clay Camp
JULY 20 - JULY 31 | AGES 7+
is for the serious ceramic student with three or more years of experience with the OXAA Clay Camp (or an equivalent amount of time in an academic setting, interviews/portfolio required). Please email Caitlin Daugherty, art coordinator, at email@example.com if you are interested and you have not completed at least three years of OXAA Clay Camp.
The potter’s wheel will be the primary technique utilized, and combinations of wheel thrown and hand built elements will be encouraged as a form of personal expression. Students will make glazes and apply them to their work. Weather permitting, alternative methods of firing and finishing will be explored. This camp is limited to 9 students. The camp will run for 2 weeks from 9 am to 12 pm each day. Ceramics is a messy art form. Students who do not like getting dirty will not enjoy this class so please keep that in mind when you discuss this summer camp program as a possibility for your child! The Oxford Arts Alliance reserves the right to dismiss or transfer a student for poor progress and/or attendance or failure to comply with Oxford Arts Alliance policies.

Beginner I Clay Camp
JULY 20 - JULY 24 | AGES 7+
Beginner II Clay Camp
JULY 27 - JULY 31 | AGES 7+
is for the young student with little or no experience in the craft. The daily projects will explore hand building techniques such as slab, pinch, coil and extrusion for the forms, and incorporate texture and underglaze colors for a variety of decorative effects. The potter’s wheel will be introduced at the end of the week. This camp is limited to 9 students. Each camp will run for one week from 1 pm to 4 pm each day. Your child cannot sign up for both Beginner I and Beginner II clay camp. They must take one of either camp.
