All of the artwork in the exhibition will be for sale! The exhibition will close on May 7th.

LUIGI RIST (1888-1959) was an American Print Maker whose unique contribution to printmaking lay in combining traditional Japanese woodcut methods with his own unique Yankee ingenuity. During his later life he attained an enviable reputation, winning prizes in major print shows and having the pleasure of seeing his prints added to the permanent collections of such major American institutions as the Butler Art Institute, the Brooklyn Museum, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and in London's Victoria and Albert Museum.

CX Carlson (1902 - 1991) studied commercial art at Crane College in Illinois and then attended the Chicago Institute of Art. His final education came from The New York City's Art Student's League. He worked in NYC for awhile as a staff writer on a wartime newspaper and later worked for the state department and was involved in producing The Good Neighbor Policy, for which he did 750 paintings, many of which are his best. He and his wife settled in Lancaster, PA in 1947 which went on to inspire him for decades. (source)

Between Night and Day

A Solo Exhibition by Francine Renée Schneider

Artist Statement

My paintings come from the fleeting moments between night and day. Nature’s light drops down while man-made city lights come up. The dance between man-made light and natural light looks as though it has been choreographed by something greater than those elements.

These paintings are also about the night itself. Night hides objects... shapes morph and are lost. Lights dominate and are mostly about themselves. Lights shine onto the water making dance-like patterns. The sky, full of waning light, commands the stage while earth and everything on it are only dark scrims. It is that dance in the dark I want to share with you in my paintings.
