Tin Can Man-o-Man | Sunday, March 16th, 2025

$30.00

March 16th, 2025 | 1pm - 4pm

The Tin Can Man-o-Man workshop is a fun, hands-on event that teaches participants to see beyond the intended use of discarded objects like tin cans, and calls upon the imaginative powers of the children to find ways to transform the material into fanciful figures, rudimentary robots and playful personae.

Pre-punched cans of all shapes and sizes are used as the basis for each Tin Can Man body; wire, soaker hose, bingo balls, Xmas ornaments and recycled beadsform the arms and legs for these tiny robots. Additional adornment is created by each individual, and has ranged from sparkling costume jewelry eyes to colorful telephone wire curls and ringlets atop the head of the well-dressed Tin Can Man or Woman. Or even Animal!

These workshops havebeen taught for the Cecil County Arts Council in Elkton, MD and in Chesapeake City, MD, for Cecil College's Family Education Center, for the West Nottingham Academy in Colora, MD, the Gibby Arts Center in Middletown, DE, the NCCL in Newark, DE,the Girl Scouts of Bel Air, MD,the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore MD, and the State Department in Washington, DC.

All tools and materials will be supplied by Maggie Creshkoff.
