Ring in the summer with the Children’s Handbells & Chimes Camp!
The Oxford Arts Alliance is pleased to offer a Beginner Handbell Camp for children ages 6 and up who are curious about music and enjoy making sound together in a fun, welcoming environment.
In this six-week program, young musicians will explore the basics of handbell ringing while building rhythm, listening skills, and teamwork. Campers will learn foundational techniques such as ringing, damping, counting rhythms, and playing together as part of an ensemble. Using colorful bells and simple musical arrangements designed for beginners, students will discover how individual notes combine to create beautiful music when played as a group.
The camp will be led by community bell choir director Miss Lavenia, who will guide students through engaging warm-ups, rhythm games, and ensemble practice each week. By the end of the program, campers will be ready to share their progress in a small recital for family and friends.
